This journal is 100% open access, which means that all content is freely available without charge to users or their institutions. All articles are published under a CC BY NC 3.0 license, and the author retains copyright. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, as long as proper attribution is given.
Open access is provided through the payment of an article processing charge (APC) of 250 £ paid after acceptance. APCs are often financed by an author’s institution or the funder supporting their research.
The articles in this journal are peer reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the RS PSPB Operations Manual. Each published article is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.
Corresponding authors from low income countries are eligible for waived or reduced APCs. If the income of the corresponding author is less than 10,000$ per year, 50-100% discount on APC fees will be granted. Also, there will be 50-100% discount on APC fees for articles submitted before 30/12/2023.
All manuscripts received are duly acknowledged. Upon submission, the Editorial Office will check the manuscript’s conformity to technical quality and author guidelines. Manuscripts with insufficient conformity are returned to authors for revision. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious scientific or experimental flaws, or lack of interest to the readership of the journal will be rejected by the Executive Associate Editor without further peer review. Manuscripts deemed suitable for publication are sent to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief will make initial assessment and will serve as the Associate Editor, who in turn will appoint 2-3 editorial board members and/or external referees to complete peer reviews within one week. Based on the recommendations and comments made by peer reviewers, the Associate Editor will make a formal recommendation to the Editors-in-Chief who will make the final decision within 1 week, in consultation with other editorial board members, if deemed necessary. The comments and recommendations (acceptance/ rejection/ minor revision/ major revision/language revision in manuscript) received from reviewers are conveyed to the corresponding author. If necessary, the author is required to provide a point by point response to reviewers’ comments and submit a revised manuscript. This process will be repeated till reviewers and editors are satisfied with the revised manuscript. Manuscripts accepted for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author. The corresponding author is expected to return the corrected proofs within 48 hours. The whole process of submission of the manuscript, final decision, sending and receiving proofs is completed online. To achieve faster and greater dissemination of knowledge and information, the journal publishes articles online as ‘Ahead of Print’ immediately upon acceptance.
During submission, the contributor is requested to opptionally provide names of at least three qualified reviewers who have had experience in the subject of the submitted manuscript. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institutes as the contributor/s. However, the selection of these reviewers is at the sole discretion of the editor.
